  • Qingda Hu – President
  • Jessica Wong – Vice-President External
  • Lucy Yeung – Vice-President Internal
  • Susan Cui – Webmaster/Director of Communications

Look out for these individuals during meetings, workshops, and on campus because they will be the ones running and planning the events on your behalf. We are always ready to take in your ideas to make this club the best as it can be.

2) Membership Changes

F.O.L.D. membership is free again this year. However, in order to become an official member of F.O.L.D. with full rights and benefits starting from September 2013, you must register with us here or with one of our execs during UTSU Clubs Fair, UTSU Street Festival, or our First General Meeting.

Important Notice: All past members of F.O.L.D. will be wiped out from our system starting from September 2013. Therefore, if you want to continue your membership (ex. receive listserv, discount offers, etc.), you must re-register with us here. Please be patient with us as we try to maintain an up-to-date membership list and member info to serve you better. Thank you.

3) UTSU Clubs Fair & UTSU Street Festival

F.O.L.D. will be participating in both UTSU Clubs Fair and UTSU Street Festival this year! If you have any questions, want more information about our club, or simply want to sign-up for our free membership, you’re welcomed to check out our booth during the two events.

  • UTSU Street Festival – September 10th from 10a.m to 3p.m at St. George Street

4) Origami Raffle

REGISTER for our free membership before Thursday September 12, 2013 and you will be given a chance to put yourself into a raffle towards winning one of our origami giveaways during our First General Meeting on Friday September 13, 2013 (5-7p.m)! The origami raffle ends on Thursday September 12, 2013 at 5p.m. and the actual raffling of prizes will be taking place towards the end of our First General Meeting (at around 6:30p.m). The prizes will be revealed online on our website during the week of Orientation. You must know that if you are not present during our actual raffling, you will not be given a prize even if we happen to draw out your name (we will simply do re-draw(s) until we get to someone that is present at the raffling). So COME OUT TO OUR FIRST GENERAL MEETING!!!

5) First General Meeting & Workshop/Subsequent Monthly Workshop(s)

F.O.L.D. will be having our First General Meeting & Workshop of the year on September 13th from 5p.m to 7p.m at Sidney Smith room 2108. We will be folding a variety of objects with demonstration from each one of the execs. The final list of objects that we will be folding will be posted on our website one week prior to the workshop.

F.O.L.D. will be having all our subsequent Monthly General Meeting(s)/Workshop(s) on the third Friday of every month. We hope this consistency will help our members to remember and plan ahead of time for our events. However, it is advised that you should always check back on our website one week prior to each event to confirm the exact date and time of each event.

6) Fall Election 2013 & Workshop

F.O.L.D. will be having our Fall Election 2013 & Workshop on September 20 from 5p.m to 7p.m at Sidney Smith room 2108. We are looking for candidates to fill in 5 positions on our executive team this year:

All candidates who wish to run for a position in our Fall 2013 Election must complete our online application here. They also need to show up on the day of the election and make a speech of 1 minute or less in front of an audience unless they have arranged otherwise with us (ex. due to time conflict etc.). All candidates that could not show up on Election Day must send your prepared speech to ut.fold@gmail.com and our president will read your speech on the day of the election. If you simply fail to show up on election day without prior notice, you will be automatically disqualified from the election according to our constitution. As for the structure of a speech, it can usually start with self-intro, your qualifications, goals and platform for the club if elected, and anything else that you feel will impress your audience all under 1 minute. Please note that any speech going over the 1 minute mark will be cut short.

All eligible candidates running for the Fall 2013 Election must also be a member of F.O.L.D. (meaning they must have registered/re-registered for the free membership online or with execs in September 2013). Candidates who do not respect the above guidelines may result in elimination. Also, preference could be given to current part-time/full-time students at the University of Toronto St. George.
