1. Drop-in Workshop *Tomorrow*
The Halloween-themed workshop will be full day tomorrow at Sidney Smith Lobby. Drop by any time between 9AM and 5PM to pick up your monthly paper supply and instructions to really cool Halloween figures! The package is also available to non-members for $1.00.
Yes we have candies and chocolates so don’t forget to say Trick-or-Treat! Keep your wrapping papers because we will show you how awesome they can be for making origami.
2. Rose Project *Drop-Off*
We have a new system for drop-offs to be made toward the Rose Project. A box from the FedEx Kinko’s (one of our sponsors) will be placed in our office early next week. If you are visiting us outside of our office hour, please put all the roses/calyxes/leaves in the plastic bag provided and complete the F.O.L.D. Origami Drop-Off Log attached to the box. Please also put your full name and email address on the paper supplied with the plastic bag and you will receive an email with instructions on TWH volunteer application thereafter. Thank you for your interest and participation! Feel free to email us with any questions or concerns.
3. Origami Box Class *JCAC*
The origami class for Japanese Culture Appreciation Club members will feature the folding of boxes of various shapes and sizes, with ranging difficulty levels. The event will be held on Friday, October 23rd at Sidney Smith Rm 1084 from 5PM to 7 PM, FREE for all JCAC and FOLD members and $3.00 for non-members, payable at the event. Please RSVP by this Thursday, October 22nd. Thanks!
4. Paper Charades *Contest*
The contest will be taking place on Wednesday, October 28th at Bahen Centre Rm 2195 from 6PM to 8PM. Refreshments will be provided =D For more details, please visit https://utfold.wordpress.com/2009/10/06/updates-election-result-drop-in-workshops-and-more/.
Again, the registration is FREE for members and $3.00 for non-members, payable at the event. To register, please email contest.fold@gmail.com with your name, role (folder or guesser) and membership status (membership I.D. number or non-member) by Tuesday, October 27th. If you have any questions regarding the event, feel free to post them on our website.
5. Origami Library *Books*
FOLD is currently in the process of building a library of origami-related books. Starting January 2010, we are hoping to open the library to members visiting our office during hours of operation. In order to preserve the mint condition, the books will be reserved for in-office use only. Members are welcomed to request BW photocopies of instructions of their interest free of charge for up to 3 pages per month and any additional can be ordered at a nominal fee. We are open to other ideas and suggestions that can make our club and space more inclusive and welcoming to members =).
6. Listserv *Yahoo*
We’ve consistently been receiving emails from listserv regarding errors with yahoo email. If you have not received any update from us, please provide us with an alternative email address. Thank you.
That’s all for now. Hope to see you at our events!
Can I drop off my roses tomorrow (Monday) when I drop by to pick up the Halloween origami instructions/monthly package?
Also, will I be able to pick up an instructional DVD tomorrow as well? (The one I got doesn’t work).
Yup, you can do all that at the drop-in workshop =) See ya!
