Hello everyone!! Hope you’re having a great summer and here are some announcements from our president Qingda Hu:

1) FOLD presents our very first summer workshop on June 1st at Hart House Room 2037 (meeting room). We will be going through the basic folds of origami from mountain/valley to squash/petal. This will be the beginning of a series of summer workshops as we attempt to go through Robert Lang’s book together. If you like, you may purchase the book off amazon for further readings. After going through the basic folds we will be going through designs of increasing difficulty. If you have any design suggestions or preferences please email us at ut.fold@gmail.com with the subject line titled “June 1st Workshop Design Request” before June 1st.

2) We are having a June full of “Relay for Life” events. “Relay for Life” is an event where charity participants try to raise money for cancer research. We go and help entertain the participants when they take a break from running around the track.

“Relay for Life” on June 7th at Centennial park will be an over night event (7p.m to 7a.m). We will set up tent, and please bring sleeping bags if you can. If you are interested in volunteering, please email us with the subject line titled “JUNE 7TH RELAY FOR LIFE VOLUNTEER REQUEST”, the content as your name and your contact information to ut.fold@gmail.com. Our president Qingda Hu has stated that he can DRIVE people from Downtown or from Kipling station if transportation is an issue. Deadline to apply is June 3rd.

“Relay for Life” on June 14th at Sunnybrook/Morningside park will only be from 7-10pm (although the organizer told us they would love for us to stay longer). If you are interested in volunteering, please email us with the subject line titled “JUNE 14TH RELAY FOR LIFE VOLUNTEER REQUEST”, the content as your name, your contact information, and your location preference (between Sunnybrook and Morningside park) to ut.fold@gmail.com. Deadline to apply is June 10th.

“Relay for Life” on June 21st at Esther Shiner Stadium (located on Bathurst and Finch) will only be from 8p.m to 10p.m. If you are interested in volunteering, please email us with the subject line titled “JUNE 21ST RELAY FOR LIFE VOLUNTEER REQUEST”, the content as your name and your contact information to ut.fold@gmail.com. Deadline to apply is June 17th.

3) We are looking for members who are interested in folding origami white doves and butterflies for Toronto Western Hospital on a monthly basis. Paper will be provided and Toronto Western will also capture your hours as volunteer hours. If you are interested, please email us with the subject line titled “Toronto Western Volunteer Request”, the content as your name and your contact information to ut.fold@gmail.com.
